چکیده

Background Despite the avoidance of allergen-containing products by allergic individuals, a risk of allergic reaction to food allergen still remains. These contaminations may result from the shared use of processing equipment in the food industry, and are not always identified. It is therefore important to select a representative food sample to analyse food contamination and to further assess risk for persons who have an allergy to specific food. The optimal sample size determination is one of the most recurrent problems when designing a sampling plan in every experiment. Difficulties are especially observed when the studied population may be divided into several groups. That is the case when analysing adventitious contamination of food product consumed by allergic population. Indeed, over 150 different foods have been reported to cause food-allergic reactions (Hefle, Nordlee et al. 1996), and some foods are found more involved in allergic reactions than others. This work was a part of the project MIRABEL which aims to set an integrated and operational framework for the allergic risk analysis, in order to improve quality of life of allergic sufferers.

Designing an Economic Repetitive Sampling Plan in the Presence of Two Markets

In this paper, we develop an optimization model for the economic design of repetitive sampling plan in the presence of two markets. The process under consideration produces a product with a normally distributed quality characteristic with unknown mean and known variance. The quality characteristic has a lower specification limit. The quality of the product is controlled via lot-by-lot acceptanc...

Designing different Sampling Plans Based on Process Capability Index

Acceptance sampling plan is a method to make decision on either accepting or rejecting a specific lot or more generally to inspect the quality of products that can be used by different methods. Along with this, one suitable measure to improve manufacturing processes is to analyze process capability indices. These indices have many applications in production environments. In this paper, a repeti...

Designing and Presenting a Model for Determining the Risk (Bankruptcy) of Bankruptcy of Banks and Non-Bank Credit Institutions Based on Differential (Diagnostic) Analysis

This article aims to model the credit default assessment of banks and non-bank credit institutions by differential analysis (diagnostic). For this purpose, the statistical sample size has been determined through the "screening sampling method". The researcher collects observations by sampling members of the statistical community. The purpose of the study, which includes all "banks and credit in...

Designing Sampling Plans to Detect Foreign Material in Bulk Lots of Shelled Peanut

When food manufacturers specify a maximum limit for the amount of foreign material (FM) in the lot, handlers estimate the true percent FM in a commercial lot by measuring FM in a small sample taken from the lot before shipment to a food manufacturer. Because of the uncertainty (variability) in FM among samples taken from the same lot, it is difficult to obtain a precise estimate of the true FM ...

Effect of Sampling Plans on the Risk of Escherichia coli O157 Illness.

Australia exports about 150,000 to 200,000 tons of manufacturing beef to the United States annually. Each lot is tested for Escherichia coli O157 using the N-60 sampling protocol, where 60 small pieces of surface meat from each lot of production are tested. A risk assessment of E. coli O157 illness from the consumption of hamburgers made from Australian manufacturing meat formed the basis to ev...
